When it comes to manufacturing jewellery by hand, there is no better place than Aztec Jewellers here in Nelspruit. A family business that’s well known and has a reputation as sparkling as their front windows, they’ve been going for more than 30 years, and for good reason. They make each piece by hand using old world techniques that remain far superior to today’s culture of disposable, 3D printable mechanical replacements. To watch a solid hunk of metal being crafted and forged into a beautiful ring that holds diamonds and other precious stones is something that not everyone gets to see, bur fortunately it is a story I am fond of telling…and showing.
Their work speaks enough for itself, but I would encourage anyone with an interest to have a look at their website for more information about the difference between factory-made or machine-made jewellery and goldsmithing, as well as to have a look at their stunning pieces. It takes a craftsman with vision to be able to see the final piece in a simple piece of metal. It is a lost art and this is what Aztec specialises in.
