Meet BonBon. She lived in my garden for a couple of weeks before being eaten by a low flying Indian Myna. Golden Orb Weavers are sadly a favourite of theirs here in the Lowveld. While she was around though she was truly magnificent to watch. Her webs were massively expansive and stretched across an entire corner of our garden… a great deal of work for such a small creature considering it was a daily task. Interesting fact: their webs are so strong that you could make beautiful yellow rope bracelets from them. I’ve never tried this myself but I’ve seen the bracelets made by the tribal ladies in the rural areas. I adore spiders and all wildlife, so I’m lucky to live where I do for there is an abundance of both here.
